GIU Day #3: adore.

Day 3 of Growing in Unity. For today's card, I used the Unity sets Donna Peony and Adore Words {psssst this set is SO on sale right now! $7.33!} I again used my Tim Holtz Distress Markers and a water brush pen. I know, you are probably getting sick of this technique from me but.... I did a fun twist this time....white heat embossing. LOVE how it turned out. The white really pops against the navy.
So I'm going to do a little tutorial real quickies how I created this card. To create this look, I used watercolor paper (Canson is my favorite, I like the thickness) and inked up the peony using my go to Top Boss embossing ink, then heat embossed it with white embossing powder. It looked like this:
I then took my Distress Marker in Chipped Sapphire and started coloring in what I thought the darkest part of the flower would be in real life. Next, I took my water brush pen and started brushing outwards, to get this effect:
The water from the brush pen resists against the white embossing, so it's basically fail proof! Love that. I then cut out the flower and adhered it to my navy card base after I heat embossed the sentiment in white.
Glued a flower center embellie from Hobby Lobby and that's it!
Thanks for joining me today. Have a great weekend.

Growing in Unity Day #2: unique you.

Sometimes, you have to take a step back from your craft table and take a journey back to the beginning. Why did you start crafting? What feelings did it bring about? What is the biggest reasons you do it? I guarantee you it's not to be "seen". It's not so you can get on a big manufacturer design team. Pretty sure, if you are anything like me, you do it because it makes you feel alive, it awakens your creative spirit, your creations brighten someone's day and all that other zen-like stuff. Am I right?

We paper crafters {I'm lump summing us together} get so wrapped up in being published, getting on design teams, who's who, company rosters and all all that hub-bub, that we sometimes forget to just craft. Just be us. Do it because we love to do it. Design what we like, for us. Make something special for someone special to us, and not worry about who's paper you are using and what ink you're stamping with. No molds.

It's important to me to do this every once in a while. To sit down, and just create something that's "you". Not to fit into some category or challenge or company. Just do you. Unique you. Maybe this is why I don't really have a typical style to my name. I do a lot of different stuff, because I'm just that way.

So my card today I created without limits or boundaries or requirements or mandates. I used the paper that made me happy, the stamps that awakened my creativity and whatever else I felt like adding. It's all part of the creative growth process, right?

Enough rambling, onto my card. {I'm impressed if you're made it this far!}
On this card, I used Glitz Design paper (LOVE all their papers because they fit my personality) and Angie Girl from Unity. LOVE LOVE LOVE this girl and the girl behind the stamp is equally amazing. I decided to make her skirt out of torn paper. Tearing just right is more difficult than it looks, yes!??!

The letter stickers are from Glitz and the wood word is from Freckled Fawn. OH and how can I forget my FAVORITE embellie to use right now...My Mind's Eye Enamel Dots. LOVE these little guys!

Thanks for jumping into my brain today and listening to me ramble :) See you tomorrow for more Unity stamping fun!

Unity GIU Girl Day #1: Peacock Love!

Hey friends! I'm the Growing in Unity Girl again this week. WHOO HOO!

Today, I am sharing a card I made using a fun new peacock embossing folder I picked up. I love the peacock trend right now. I inked directly on the embossing folder and ran it through my Big Shot. I then applied purple Stickles to the paper. The sentiment is from Unity She Said stamp set, and I heat embossed that in white. Added some twine and feathers to finish the card.

I am also entering this into Moxie Fab World's Create Your Own Background Paper Challenge! I love to play over there to get my creativity flowing.
Now for the fun part: Unity is letting me give away TWO Itty Bittys to one lucky commenter! I will choose a random commenter from my blog all week and they can choose any two of their choice. Sound fun? Cool! See you tomorrow :)

itty bitty states.

I have a serious addiction to anything travel themed when it comes to paper crafts. I love planes, boats, roads, cars, MAPS, the states...all that good stuff. When I saw this little wood stamp on Studio Calico's website, I had to have it. So cute!

This card I made for the Moxie Fab World Itty Bitty Card Challenge is 3" x 3". TEENY.
I colored the United States with Promarkers Neon Yellow. Stamped a Unity sentiment on and of course, I had to put the little Studio Calico wood star on Dallas ;)
Until next time!

Itty Bitty Challenge. Itty Bitty Donut.

Hi friends!

Posting today for the Moxie Fab World Itty Bitty Card Challenge #23. How fun!

This whopper of a card is 2.75" x 2.75". Bitty fun! I love donuts. Especially strawberry frosted ones. mmmmmhmmm.
So donut be sad, have a happy day. And go get yourself a donut! xoxo

jar of sunshine: for the 1000th time.

Happy Friday peeps! It has to be said...Unity's jar of sunshine might be one of my all-time favorite stamp sets. I have used it so much, if rubber wore out, this set would be long gone. I love all the possibilities and the big ol jar.

I am posting this happy card today for Unity's Friday Friends with Flair. I used jar of sunshine and Simple Stories Snap Life 6x6 stack...another fave, The Twinery twine and a bunch of Tim Holtz Distress Markers.
Have a great weekend!

hey sweet cheeks.

Hi friends! I'm back from sunny, wonderful Cancun. {a little burnt, but totally worth it} I had a blast. Jet skis on the ocean, parasailing and being buried in sand with a 2 foot iguana charging at me. What could be better?

Anyway, I'm here today to post a card I submitted for a recent Paper Crafts Magazine call. Annette is having a link up party to show cards that didn't get picked, and I love that! I love seeing everyone's take on the call. I've very excited to see this issue. I was lucky enough to have 3 cards picked up!

I'm posting a card I submitted to the Just Add Water category. I kind of knew in the back of my mind this one wouldn't get chosen, but it was one of my favorites I created. A good crafty friend sent me this stamp and I couldn't wait to color her up! I used Tim Holtz Distress Markers and a water brush pen {one of my favorite coloring techniques}. The sentiment stamp is from Unity.

I'm also entering this into the Moxie Fab World Challenge #60: Make a Card with a Window. Fabby!

Have a fabby day! xoxo

It's been a MONTH.

WOAH! It's been an entire month since I've posted to my blog :( My bad! Holidays are over so that means return to normalcy. I am posting a sweet little girlfriend card today using a Unity Itty Bitty and paper from the new Crate Paper Fourteen line. Presh!
Have a fabulous Friday!
