Gallery Idol 2014: Round 2

AHHHHHHHHH! So on Friday, this happened. I was selected as a top 20 contestent in the 2014 Paper Crafts & Scrapbooking Magazine Gallery Idol. (I may have jumped out of bed and ran around at 7 am when the post went live.)
So immediately I began concepting my die cut card. I have a Silhouette Cameo and I toyed with using a cut file, but in the end, I wanted to stick to my die collection and use good old fashioned metal dies.
Birds on a Branch Card
Every single thing on my card is die cut. No stamping!

Supplies used:
Memory Box Circle Burst Die
Memory Box Bird dies
Simon Says Stamp Daughter word die
Hot Pink, Gold, White and Glossy Black cardstock

If you feel like my card is worthy of moving onto the next round, I would be forever grateful for your vote.

Thank you for being supportive, always! xoxo

Black + Red Hello Friend

Hi there, friends! So I made this card a while ago and never got the chance to blog it. I had a lot of fun making this one, and really like the color combo I ended up using.

For this card, I used Lil Inker Designs Quilted Stitched Pattern die, WPlus9 Spring Blooms stamp set and matching dies and Papertrey Ink's Wet Paint stamp set.

Have a great Monday!

You Are F'ing Awesome.

*******Disclaimer: Profanity used below in rubber form!********

Hi! So. I cuss. It happens. If you don't appreciate profanity, please skip my blog on the hop ;) If you don't mind every now and then showing someone you think they are really super awesome by using a cuss word as an adjective, well then maybe you'll like this stamp.
I used this new stamp that can be found here on the Unity website along with Memory Box's peony dies and Hero Arts background stamp Highline Geometric.
Enjoy your day!

Deer + Washi Confetti

Hi there, good morning! Wanted to post my third and final entry to Gallery Idol. I had the idea of creating confetti with lots of washi last night around dinner time and rushed up to my craft room to make it happen.
Deer Confetti Washi Card
(Neon is impossible to photograph!) I love using neon and gold in my cards. The best color combo is neon pink and gold. ACK!

The deer die is from Impression Obsession. The love word die is from Simon Says Stamp. I used about 6 rolls of washi and just adhered them in a random pattern to the left side of the card.

Good luck to all my crafty friends who entered!

Washi Arrows

Hello!

I'm here posting my second 2014 Gallery Idol submission. I LOVE Amy Tangerine's recent line of stuff, including this love die and the thin washi tapes.

I lined up my washi tapes onto white cardstock and die cut the arrows from My Favorite Things. This one took quite a bit of time, but overall I'm happy with the result.

Hello, Washi. (Long time, no see.)

Washi! I have rolls and rolls of it. It gets neglected. I collect it. Have to have it. But don't use it much.

But with the Gallery Idol competition in it's opening round, it made me take a closer look at my washi stash and do some clever techniques with it. Definitely a challenge, sorta fun!

Here is what I came up with for my first entry.
I used a thicker roll of washi from Michael's Recollections brand. I love the big, bold statement of this tape. I then fussy cut one emblem out and popped it up to add visual interest on the left side of the card next to the stamped sentiment by Avery Elle.

Runway Inspired Challenge: You Are Fabulous.

Hello, friends and happy Friday!

Today, I am participating in the Runway Inspired Challenge. I was totally intrigued by the photo this week, as I don't do olive green very much but thought it would be fun to try it out.
I hope you have a fabulous weekend!

Watercolor + Unity = Awesome.

Hi there friends! It's Unity hop day. I am currently taking Watercolor for Card Makers, a class hosted by Online Card Classes. It's awesome, and you should take it, too!
I created this card using the rubber cement emboss technique. You simply apply rubber  cement to the stamped image, wait for it to dry, watercolor over and then rub off the cement. Cool, huh?

Unity Stamps used:
Life is a Journey
Hiya Gorgeous

I created this one using emboss resist (embossing powder) and then painting on watercolors.

Watercolor for Card Makers: Day 2

Hey there! Back tonight with a card I made for class. Yay for watercolors! I got my new Koi Sakura Field Kit today from Amazon, so I immediately wanted to play with it.
I used the color wash background technique. Mine didn't come out as light, but I usually go bold anyway. I decided to do a Mother's Day card so I could get those out in the mail asap! The feather dies are from My Favorite Things, the Mom die is from Simon Says Stamp.

(Yep, still loving gold. A lot.)

Watercolor Online Card Class: Day 1

Hi there! The Watercolor Online Card Class started today! So exciting. I LOVE the techniques already and have already played with one. I know, you're impressed with my eagerness. HAHA!
I used the emboss resist technique and then watercolored over it to create my background. The background stamp is from Hero Arts (LOVE stars, have I mentioned that before?) and the baby die and stamp is from Simon Says Stamp. The stitched star is of course, Lil' Inker Designs.

You should join the class, too! Here is the link. See you back soon!

Suzi Blu is BACK at Unity!

So let's rewind to 2008-ish. When I first started stamping. Unity stamps were my very first stamps. From the very beginning, I have always adored Suzi's unique style with her funky girls. This stamp? One of my very first in my stamp collection. It was SO fun to whip her out again, just like old days. And what's even cooler is that Suzi's girls are BACK at Unity! You can purchase them all for your very own again! WHOOP!
I created a shaker card with this sweet girl, she was screaming for sequins, don't you think? I also paper pieced her dress with some fun patterned paper. I made this into a card, but then I thought it would be super cute in my daughter's room as art. When I showed it to her, she gasped, so it shall be hers. I love how her hand is holding her heart. So sweet!

Have fun hopping!
