Gallery Idol 2014: Round 3 {Stencils}

Round 3 of Gallery Idol has officially opened up for voting. EEEEEEEK! This is such a fun ride, I have to say. It's so fun being challenged, pushing yourself to think outside the box, cheering on fellow crafty friends and anticipating the results. I wish it never ended!

This round, we were challenged to use stencils. I knew immediately I wanted to use embossing paste. It is such a fun medium to play with, almost like being a kid again!
Poppy Ombre Hello Card
I started with using a Crafter's Workshop stencil and black glossy embossing paste. I also mixed white embossing paste with various gray inks so I could apply the pastes and get an ombre affect, as it goes lighter to darker.

I stamped the Unity Stamp Company Donna Poppy with the black outline, then placed a Tim Holtz stencil over and blended Fired Brick Distress Ink over the flower, carefully staying within the lines of the stamp outline. I then fussy cut and adhered it to the card base with a gold Lawn Fawn leaf die tucked behind.

The Hello die is from WPlus9. I wanted to tie in the gold, but it needed a shadow effect to stand out, so I die cut it in black and glued the two pieces together.

Finished off the card with some red enamel dots and a black strip on the right side to give the perfect balance.

I hope you enjoy my card for this round, and of course would LOVE your votes to keep me moving on! Thank you so much for supporting my work. xoxo
