The watercolor bandwagon

Let's face it. Sometimes I'm a bit of a scaredy cat when it comes to trying new things. Not only in my crafting hobby, but in life in general. I'm kind of like the quote "you can't teach an old dog new tricks" sort of person. Which is really quite a stupid quote, if you ask me. Because you can actually do ANYTHING you put your mind to. Literally anything. This is me when it came to watercoloring on my cards. I scoured the craft shops online for the BEST watercolors I could buy. (By the way, if you want a really kick butt set without any work involved at all, I found this set of Daniel Smith Watercolors for ....wait for it....$585. CA-CHING! Holy. I'm sure it's amazing and all that. I say GO FOR IT. But I didn't have that kind of budget. I opted to get out my dusty old Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens. In fact, I think I sold them once because I was so intimidated by them, and then re-bought them all over again. ::insert eye roll here:: My crafty friend Karolyn gave me all kinds of hell for that. Also, I'm just going to come out and tell you that you are going to want the full 80 set, if you are considering these bad boys. #fullsetsyndrome Anyway, I digress. I decided that I was going to do this. (I'm going to digress real quick again.) I'm reading Girl Wash Your Face and the second chapter talks about making promises to yourself and breaking those promises, and how that's really, really bad for yourself. Do yourself a favor and go buy it right now. Link below. Anyway, it turns out, it wasn't too scary / bad at all. I ended up creating quite an amazing piece of work for my first time and I now have a beautiful card to send to someone. And it turns out I really, really love using them. For this card, I used Strathmore Watercolor Paper as a base for watercoloring. The stamp I used is from Simon Says Stamp as well as the die. LOVE!
